Catalog update ensures that catalogs, products, product groups and prices are only 'visible' until the validity date specified by the supplier. You can also see the validity period of basic contracts.
This task browses the databases at the required time intervals to find products and prices that are expired or available. When a product expires, it no longer appears in the catalog, template or shopping basket and so can no longer be ordered.
The status is set from active to inactive.
If possible, the follow-on product appears in the shopping basket. Otherwise, the item is converted to a freeform order if this option is permitted in an available basic contract.
It also serves as a ‘preparatory measure' for the Delete data task that can then remove parts of the catalog structure that are no longer required from the database . No revision-relevant data is lost in this process!
Parameters
File away products with no product group
Catalogs are generally checked during every catalog import (or during migration). If products with no product group are found, a product group called _products_ is created for these in the corresponding user catalog and the products allocated to this product group. This parameter must therefore only be set in the exceptional case of a one-off catalog maintenance run in case such products should be manually created. The option should not always be set as this procedure is very time-consuming.
Recommended execution interval
At least once per day between 12:00 midnight and the start of normal working hours. It is not necessary to run this task more frequently without data changes such as catalog imports/ catalog-approvals etc.
Dependencies on other scheduled tasks
This task should not run simultaneously with a catalog import or with the Delete data task. These tasks are mutually exclusive and are then automatically queued behind one another by the system.
