Viewing catalog import statistics

The actual import of a catalog is done by a scheduled task which runs in the background. This task is displayed during the import in the list of running scheduled tasks and can be viewing by users with the authorization Administrator.

When the catalog import is finished, the catalog file is moved to the folder Done. The multimedia data remain in the Multimedia folder. The system has copied all necessary data and saved them in the multimedia web folder.

Products that cannot be definitely assigned to one product group (this is a specific feature of the BMEcat format: products do not have to be assigned to one product group), will be collected in one new product group. They can now be edited with the catalog editor.

If you have selected the option Manual catalog approval when starting the import, the catalog has to be approved before assignment (see Compare and approve catalogs).

After termination of the import, the responsible user will receive a message in his lobby or by email. Click the text of this message to view statistics of the catalog import. The page Catalog import statistics will be displayed. Click the menu item Help to see detailed information about his page. You can also call this page via the menu item Control Center - Catalogs - Supplier catalogs.

The status of the import is indicated with coloured icons and an explanation:

red

Import failed

yellow

Import partly succeeded, please view warnings

Warnings inform you about a minor problem; for example a field had to be cut due to length exceeding. The article will nevertheless be imported

Import partly succeeded, please view errors

An error is a serious problem, i.e. data could not be used, because they were completely wrong, or important information was missing. Consequently, in most cases the article has not been imported, so it has to be checked.

green

Import succeeded

In the field remarks, additional information is displayed, for example a short description of errors that have led to a termination of the import. In order to identify the error, click the link Import logfile. This logfile, a txt-file with the same name as the catalog, is the logfile from the folder Error in the catalog import path.

Errors usually occur if articles in the catalog have not been entered correctly by the supplier. You should therefore contact the supplier for corrections.

In case of a serious error, a red warning triangle could be displayed in the column Error on the overview page of the scheduled tasks. Further errors are listed in the task in status information. In this case, please contact your system administrator.

By clicking the link Approval you can call up the page Catalog comparison. Here you can approve catalogs and view the content of a catalog (see Compare and approve catalogs).
